Quick explain

  • Vraag je naar het onderwerp (who of what doet het)? Dan gebruik je geen do: Who broke it?
  • Vraag je naar het object? Dan wel: Who did you see?
  • In een indirecte vraag staat de gewone woordvolgorde: Could you tell me where the station is?

Who called you? (subject) | Who did you call? (object) | …where it is. (indirect)

Examples

  • Who wants a biscuit?
  • What happened?
  • Who did you invite?
  • Do you know what time it starts?
  • Could you tell me where the toilets are?

Dutch alert

  • Who did break the window?

    Who broke the window?

    Subject question: geen did.

  • Do you know where is the station?

Do you know where the station is?

In een indirecte vraag geen omdraaiing.
